Best Husband Ever

Not a huge post this morning, but noteworthy. Dad is cleaning AND taking care of Abby, giving Mom a much needed break. He's definitely in the running for 'Best Husband of the Year' at least!

Abby's First Hike!

Abby went on her first hike this past weekend (August 21, 2011) up La Plata Canyon.

Mom was thrilled to be up and about and figured since she had carried Abby for the past nine months, Dad gets to carry her for the next nine.

It was a family outing, with Grandpa Dyer...

...and Grandma Dyer!

Unfortunately, Abby slept through the whole thing.

Even through the rainstorm!

And the great maple vs. box elder debate!

Week Two

Abby learned a fun new game this week: wait to poop until Mom or Dad has the diaper off. She has a range of 3 ft. It's impressive. After recoiling in horror a time or two, Dad is now a seasoned diaper changer.

Love the pooping pose, which sometimes transitions into sleeping pose.

Very aptly labeled.

Don't let the innocent face fool you...

We celebrated our first year anniversary. So much has happened in just a year!

Abby & Dad

We're already embarrassing Abby by kissing her! Her protests are cute.

Week One

The first morning at home.

So precious.

Mom & Abby taking a well-deserved nap.

Norman, the cat, isn't so sure about the new addition to the family. Shortly after this picture was taken, he came up to sniff Abby and she accidentally kicked him in the nose.

Grandma Dyer & Abby.

Look at those eyes! She loves to gaze at everything.

Homecoming!

Abigail wasn't so sure about the whole car seat thing, but we checked out of the hospital and made our jailbreak to home!

Arrival at home.

Walking in the front door.

We fell asleep in our car seat on the way home and stayed that way once inside. Apparently the importance of the occasion was lost on her!

At the Hospital

Welcome Abigail Lee Reeder!
Abigail Lee Reeder was born on August 6, 2011 at 1:48 am after 11 hrs of labor, including just over an hour of pushing. She weighed in at a hefty 9 lbs 3 oz, which is very large for our altitude.

The nurses were all impressed with Abby's size and the fact that it was a natural birth (no drugs).

Dad was immediately enchanted by his little girl. In fact, he started smiling as soon as she started crowning - a fact that had Kelsey wanting to kill him as she was pushing.

Mom and Abby cuddling...okay, feeding.

On the road to recovery!
